Singer Mesha Shafi has referred to the Supreme Court against the ruling of the Ombudsman Punjab, Governor Punjab and the Lahore High Court against the judgment of ‘sexual harassment’ case in favor of Ali Zafar.
Meesha Shafi filed a petition in the Supreme Court this year against the Lahore High Court on October 11 this year in favor of Ali Zafar.
Mesha Shafi filed a sexual harassment case in Punjab’s Ombudsman’s Office in April last year after accusing Ali Zafar of sexual harassment.
The Ombudsman rejected Meesha Shafi’s ‘sexual harassment’ case on ‘technical grounds’ in August last year, after which the singer filed a petition in the Governor’s Punjab office.
Singer Meesha Shafi’s lawyer confirmed in August 2018 that the Governor of Punjab also upheld the decision of the Punjab Chief Minister and the request of the singer was rejected.
The singer approached the Lahore High Court after the Ombudsman and Governor Punjab dismissed applications on ‘technical grounds’.
However, in October this year, the Lahore High Court also rejected the request of Meesha Shafi and upheld the decision of the Ombudsman and Governor Punjab.
The Lahore High Court on October 19, 2019, issued a judgment on the request of Mesha Shafi, saying that the case of Meesha Shafi does not fall within the workplace law.
The Lahore High Court, in its 34-page judgment, had said that there was no owner-employee relationship between Meesha Shafi and Ali Zafar.
Judge Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court, hearing, said that Meesha Shafi requested an independent woman be included in the definition of Working Woman, which is similar to mocking the law.
She said that in her complaint, Meesha Shafi did not claim that she was a company supervisor or employee because of which her case does not fall within the law of workplace harassment.
According to the court’s decision, the workplace harassment law is not for every woman, it is only for women who are harassed at work.
However, now the news has come out that Mesha Shafi has filed a petition in the Supreme Court in the Lahore High Court verdict.
In his petition filed by Meesha Shafi, Ombudsman Punjab, Governor Punjab, and singer Ali Zafar have been made parties.
Mesha Shafi has requested the court to dismiss the Lahore High Court verdict.
On the contrary, another case against Meisha Shafi and Ali Zafar is being heard in the sessions court in Lahore.
The Lahore Sessions Court-run case is a case filed by Ali Zafar for defamation which he has filed against Meesha Shafi.
Ali Zafar has lodged a bribe of Rs one billion under false accusations of sexual harassment against Meesha Shafi.
This has been held in several hearings and the statements of Ali Zafar and his witnesses have also been closed in this case.
Meesha Shafi had also recorded her statement in the same case on December 9. Where before her mother, Saba Hameed, and actress Iffat Omar appeared as witnesses.
The next hearing of the same case will take place on December 20. In which statements of further witnesses of Mesha Shafi will be recorded.
