According to new reports, Prince Harry could be having some regrets and second thoughts about his and Meghan Markle’s bombshell Oprah interview. Let’s get into why Harry is now supposedly “embarrassed” about how things went down.
During Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year, Harry seemed pretty confident in his decision to speak out and speak their truth. He even said that he knew it was what he needed to do for his family during the interview.
“I needed to do this for my family. This is not a surprise to anybody, it’s deplorable that it’s got to this point, but I’ve got to do something for my own mental health, my wife’s, and for Archie’s as well because I could see where this was headed.”
But now, a few months later, new sources are saying that Harry is feeling “regretful” about his decision to spill all the royal tea. During his recent visit to the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral, Harry publicly reunited with the royal family for the first time in over a year.
And while there seemed to be a glimmer of hope that he could work through his differences with his brother Prince William and other family members, since his return to California, rumors have swirled around that the Sussexes were leaking info the press. A new source told Closer Weekly that Harry left Prince Philip’s funeral feeling more conflicted than ever.
They said, “Harry was feeling numb heading back to LA. You could see in his face at the funeral that he was torn. He didn’t think he’d have to face his family so soon – and when he did, he had mixed emotions.” The insider added that seeing his family made Harry question his decision to reveal all the royal drama during his Oprah interview.
And royal expert and author of “Prince Harry: The Inside Story,” Duncan Larcombe, also told the outlet that “Harry was clearly hurt and angry about Meghan’s experience with the royals – and used the interview to get it out. But after returning home, I’ve no doubt he’s been feeling embarrassed, regretful, and awkward. He’s now facing the consequences. I believe he’ll regret that interview.”
Duncan continued saying that after getting to know Harry during his decade-long stint as a royal editor, he learned that Harry had been known to “act on his emotions,” and he believes that’s what happened with the Oprah interview.
Obviously, this is just one source’s interpretation of what happened. Another royal expert, Kinsey Schofield, told us that regardless of how Harry feels now, she thinks it’s time for Harry and Meghan just to move forward from the Oprah interview.
Kinsey said, “I think it’s time for the Sussexes to put the Oprah interview behind them and prove their value. Show the royal family what they are missing by contributing to society in the kindest, most creative ways that they possibly can. They have got to shake this interview off and be seen as more than victims.” As of now, Harry himself hasn’t spoken out on the matter, but he’s still expected to reunite with his family again over the summer.
There are plans for William and Harry to meet again when they unveil a new statue of their late mother, Princess Diana, at Kensington Palace to commemorate what would have been their mother’s 60th birthday.
No word yet if Meghan plans to attend, she did reveal, though, that their baby girl is due this summer, so it seems unlikely that Meghan would be traveling either late in her pregnancy or just after giving birth.
We’ll keep you updated if we hear anything else about this upcoming trip or if there’s any more info from Harry himself about how he now feels about the Oprah interview.
