Selena Gomez just gave us a taste of her rapping skills with an incredible new look— and we just can’t get enough of it all!
Last Friday, Selena shocked the world when she revealed that Blondelena is back more fierce than EVER with a mirror selfie of her platinum blonde locks. And Selly G kept her blonde vibes flowing throughout the weekend as she prepped to have a low-key besties night out with her friend and former roommate Anna Collins.
It was actually Anna who went on to give us a sneak peek of their weekend shenanigans and Selena’s new look in all of its glory in one of her IG stories. “Is that my bestie in a Tessie? Fresh blow out, skin on tan, ooh, she ready.”
Yup, that’s Selena in the back, quickly soaking up the lyrics to Saweetie and Doja Cat’s hit new song ‘Best Friend’ as she raps along to the lyrics. Sel most likely wanted to learn the lyrics right away to be able to sing it at the top of her lungs with her very own best friend on their way to Nobu in Malibu.
And can I just say, just when we thought Sel couldn’t get more relatable… not going to lie, I do this all the time when I’m obsessed with a new song and want to be able to sing the lyrics at the top of my lungs, especially in the car!
And after dinner, Selena even made time to stop and take a quick selfie with a fan. Going back to Selena’s rap skills, though, this actually isn’t the first time we’ve seen her spitting out lyrics like that. Who could ever forget back in 2011, Sel performed an original rap song for a promo of the MTV EMAs that she hosted that year.
Not sure what her take would be, but throughout the years, we’ve also seen Selena rap to Nicki Minaj’s ‘Super Bass’ as well as Nicki’s part in Drake’s ‘Thank Me Later.’ So could it be that the return of Blondelena also marks the dawn of a new music era for the singer?
After all, when Selena recently mentioned she was contemplating quitting the music business, Cardi B chimed in tweeting, “I think she needs one more Era. An edgy one that no one ever seen her as. A bad b***h era is needed tho. A b***h I’m nice sweet girl but I’m a rich bad b***h too.” Only time will tell if Selena took Cardi’s advice and whether this edgy new look is just a taste of what’s to come…
But for now, stay here to find out how Cardi B has kept Olivia Rodrigo honest in her songwriting. And let us know down in the comments if you’d like to see Selena come out with a rap song; I totally would! But let me know your thoughts!
