Billie Eilish just shocked the world with an incredible new photoshoot for British Vogue, and it’s unlike anything we’ve seen her in before! She revealed something that she said she was never gonna let any of her fans see… — let’s get into it.
Billie caught us all by surprise on Sunday morning as she took to her Instagram to share a few photos of herself as we had never seen her before!
The superstar posted her cover for British Vogue magazine’s June edition, looking every bit of a 1950s blonde bombshell, and she topped it off with three other posts of her pin-up-inspired photoshoot.
In her cover story for the mag, Billie admitted that she had “never done anything in this realm at all” besides when she’s alone, of course, and it turns out this photoshoot was all Billie’s idea. The singer also opened up about her insecurities during this project, and as always, she was very candid about her choices, such as her choice to wear a corset.
Billie put it simply, “If I’m honest with you, I hate my stomach, and that’s why.” She added that yes, she thinks that’s “shallow” but still one of her “deepest insecurities.” Billie also reminded us that her body was the initial reason for her depression when she was younger.
So for those questioning her decision to pose in a corset, even though Billie has become an icon for body positivity, she had this to say about it: “My thing is that I can do whatever I want. It’s all about what makes you feel good. If you want to get surgery, go get surgery. If you want to wear a dress that somebody thinks that you look too big wearing, f**k it – if you feel like you look good, you look good.” I mean, it doesn’t get any clearer than that…
Billie was definitely two steps ahead of her critics during her interview. She also preemptively tackled the people she feels will come for her after shedding her baggy clothes image.
She explained, “Suddenly, you’re a hypocrite if you want to show your skin, and you’re easy, and you’re a slut, and you’re a whore. If I am, then I’m proud. Me and all the girls are hoes, and f**k it, y’know? Let’s turn it around and be empowered in that. Showing your body and showing your skin – or not – should not take any respect away from you.” One thing’s for sure, though, Billie is out there living her best life as she said that her internet-breaking transformation has made her “feel more like a woman, somehow.”
Billie also delivered the following powerful words regarding her decision to pose in lingerie. She said: “It’s about taking that power back, showing it off and not taking advantage with it. I’m not letting myself be owned anymore.” I got chills just reading that…
Oh, and by the way, Billie’s British Vogue cover IG post ended up becoming the fastest to reach a million likes in Instagram’s history — hitting the mark under six minutes! This means Billie broke her very own record she had just set a few weeks ago when she unveiled her new bleached blonde look.
And the picture where she’s decked out in a nude-colored Burberry corset with matching stockings also got plenty of attention — not only for the obvious reasons but also because Billie’s fans were able to catch a glimpse of what she had said she was never gonna show them. Yep, we’re talking about that major hip tattoo that seems to run from her upper thigh to her belly button.
Though we can’t see the tattoo in all of its glory, the black ink seems to form some sort of dragon…? But that’s not all! It just so happens that Billie has also been hiding yet another tat… In the picture where she’s posing in a black catsuit with its corresponding corset, we can see in between the folds of the garment more black ink around her sternum.
Over to You!
That one’s really tough to make out, so we’ll let you know your best guess in the comments. This new era of Billie sure is an exciting one, and we can’t wait to see what she’ll do next…
But for now, stay here to find out why Billie’s fans think Ariana Grande inspired her cover for her album Happier Than Ever. And be sure to tell us in the comments your thoughts on Billie’s tattoos and, of course, on her entire photoshoot.
