Zendaya is getting us fans even more excited for season two of HBO’s Euphoria by sharing some photos from the set, as production is now underway. Let’s get into it!
Euphoria’s highly anticipated second season is in production, which means we’re that much closer to getting answers to some of our most burning questions from season one:
what’s going to happen between Rue and Jules?
What about Rue’s relapse?
Will Cassie be okay after getting an abortion?
Is this the end of Nate and Maddie? What really happened to Fez?
These questions, and many others, have gone unanswered since the summer of 2019 when season one first dropped (despite some more recent bridge episodes), but thankfully, we’re getting a glimpse into the progress of season two’s production.
Zendaya took to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday to share a few behind-the-scenes photos featuring some of her beloved co-stars, including Angus Cloud, who plays drug dealer Fez, who was propped on a kitchen counter sporting baggy clothing and a face mask.
Zendaya wrote, “Missed this kid,” and in another photo featuring Zendaya’s friend Alex and lighting technician Danny Durr, she wrote, “And these kids…” Z was caught up in a bit of nostalgia as she shared a third photo of the outside of the studio where the show is filmed, writing QUOTE, “Just being back here in general… missed it @euphoria.”
As many fans know, production on season two was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, two special episodes were dropped late last year to hold us over, for the time being, each focusing on Rue and Jules, respectively.
There is currently still no release date for season two. Although many details are still under wraps, actress Barbie Ferreira, who plays Kat Hernandez, recently caught up with C.R. Fashion Book and teased that it’s “going to be even more rambunctious and in-depth, more fantastical and trippy — all that good stuff.”
And it’s no question as to why Zendaya missed being back on the Euphoria set… aside from constantly gushing over her castmates, Z admitted that the show had become such a large part of her life, saying once season one was released, “Euphoria was eight months of my life, and now that it’s done I’m like, ‘F–k’… You put your s–t out there, and it’s a really terrifying thing to do. It’s out for the world to see—it’s so f–king weird.”
She also opened up about why she’s so drawn to her dark character, telling Elle, “Rue has such a darkness to her, but also an innocence. I have to be super vulnerable and sad in front of people. It’s weird, but cathartic in a lot of ways.” Production on season two was said to begin filming in early April, which would mean a premiere date of later this year or early 2022…
And speaking of Zendaya’s upcoming projects, stick around to see if Andrew Garfield will join her Spiderman co-star Tom Holland in the upcoming installment. Then be sure to let us know all your thoughts on the all-new set photos down here in the comments and what you hope to see come season two.
