19-year-old TikToker Kate Haralson was just got kicked off Raya after calling out Matthew Perry for being a Hollywood man who “takes advantage” of younger women on dating apps. Let’s get into it…
Earlier this week, 19-year old Kate Haralson went viral for posting a private FaceTime call she had with 51-year old Matthew Perry– on TikTok.
The two supposedly matched on the dating app Raya. According to Page Six, Kate posted the video of their FaceTime session to “expose how older men in Hollywood are taking advantage of younger women on dating apps.”
In her TikTok, Kate wrote, “When you match with Matthew Perry as a joke on a dating app and he FaceTimes you and plays 20 questions with you.” Then she tossed to the video clip of their FaceTime call. “Do you always play with your hair this much? I guess so yeah.”
Yeah…Originally Kate received some backlash for sharing this video and spoke to Page Six, saying, “A lot of people were saying I’m a bully and mean for posting this, and it made me feel kind of bad, but at the same time, I feel like a lot of guys in Hollywood are talking to all these young girls and it’s something that I think a lot of people should be aware of.”
She said while none of the questions during their conversation were sexual, she still felt uncomfortable and told the outlet that at one point, Matthew asked her, “Am I as old as your dad?” And interestingly enough, Kate said she was inspired to post this video after Nivine Jay’s recent Raya moment with Ben Affleck went viral on TikTok.
Kate said that she and Nivine are actually in touch now after their celebrity Raya moments have circulated, but unlike Nivine, Kate decided to delete her post. She said that she started to feel bad because she says Matthew really was a “nice guy,” and she doesn’t think he had malicious intent. “Well, well, how the turntables…”
Kate said, “I just did it more for the joke of it, which sounds mean, but I didn’t think anything of it. I thought it was more so innocent and harmless. And honestly, it’s not really OK for these older guys to be talking to such young girls.”
Since this viral moment, Kate has had to pay the price, not only with criticism for sharing her private conversation with Matthew but also by being kicked off Raya. As most people know, Raya is a very exclusive dating app and sharing private conversations goes against their community privacy guidelines.
Kate told Page Six that she wasn’t super surprised she was removed from the app after her video went viral, saying, “I should have expected that would happen. I feel fine about it. I never really used it anymore anyways.”
Matthew Perry and his team haven’t responded to any of this yet, though last we heard, he was engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Molly Hurwitz. We aren’t 100% sure when this interaction with Matthew and Kate took place.
We’ll definitely keep you posted if we hear anything else about this story as it unfolds, and we’ll for sure let you know if Matthew speaks out.
