Apple has continued its App Store policies so that subscriptions can automatically renew regardless of your chosen subscription plan.
You won t have to manually sign up for another year’s subscription if it included a price increase before the rule change. Now you will not have to do this, though you will still be reminded about the price change before it happens.
Apple’s stance is that it can help customers by helping them cancel their subscriptions in case they did not see the notification or email notifying them of a higher price.
“As a result, some services have been inadvertently interrupted customers, and they must take steps to resubscribe within the app, from Settings on iPhone and iPad, or in the App Store on Mac,” the company said.
Developers are permitted to raise the price of a subscription without restricting it on an annual basis to ensure that no individual is able to take advantage of this feature.
Individuals who don’t take their inboxes seriously and neglect Apple s messages; those who silence or aggregate their iOS notifications using Apple s notification management tools; and individuals who use a subscription-based app so much that they simply want to let it lapse and not have it renewed automatically.
