The Chinese corporation ‘Gauss Auto Group’ has revealed plans to build an electric vehicle (EV) plant in Pakistan’s special economic zone near Port Qasim in Karachi.’
The firm would enter into a Joint Venture (JV) with AKD Group Holdings (Pvt.) limited and establish up the plant near Port Qasim, Karachi on around 1000 acres of property.
The announcement comes after a delegation led by Mr. Chen Feng, CEO of Gauss Auto Group and Mr. Nasir Rizwan, CEO of AKD Group Holding, visited the Board of Investment (BOI) and met with Federal Minister of Investment Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Secretary of the BOI, Ms. Fareena Mazhar.
The delegation also spotlighted their actual intent to export their locally made EVs from Pakistan to other countries. The company produced a comprehensive presentation of their production line and kept informed BOI leadership on the variants of the vehicles they are already producing.
Assistant BOI informed the delegation about Pakistan’s recently launched Electric Vehicle policy that also offers benefits to both; existing and new automakers.
BOI leadership encouraged Gauss Auto Group to engage in auto sector of Pakistan and extended full support and assistance to the company.
It is worthy to state here that Gauss Auto is a company concentrating on the innovation and growth of vehicles and the integration of resources. The company registered in Silicon Valley, California, and operates in Shanghai, China.
It is important to mention that the governing council on Dec.22, 2021 had approved Pakistan’s first Electric Vehicle Policy.
