Dr. Saeed Akhtar has been reappointed as Chairman of the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
After returning to the United States four years ago due to legal procedures and other concerns, Akhtar returned to Pakistan at the prime minister’s request to resume his responsibilities.
The premier officiated over a meeting of the PKLI Board of Governors and made key announcements. Motivated by the vision of Shehbaz Sharif, Dr. Saeed Akhtar left everything in America and decided to come to Pakistan.
PKLI is the world’s first state-of-the-art and world-class kidney and liver transplantation facility.
As Prime Minister, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif devised this strategy to save liver and kidney patients from expensive treatment costs and travel problems abroad.
