Federal Govt Decides To Restore Saturday Weekly Holiday

Federal government decided to restore two weekly holidays for government employees, more than a month after Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif made the announcement six working days in a week to enhance working capacity of the state offices.

According to reports listening to the issue, the two weekly holidays in the government departments will be Saturday and Sunday. “A approval in this regard will be given by the federal cabinet tomorrow,” they stated .

Previously, the federal government decided not to restore the Saturday holiday in response to employee protests; but, office hours were decreased following a recent notification.

The Establishment Division released a notification after Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s approval order to decrease the time in office hours.

New Time For Govt Offices

According to the notification, the government office hours open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, but while, the Friday timing will be 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Previously, office hours were set at 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Shahbaz Sharif, after becoming Prime Minister, removed the Saturday holiday in favor of a 6-day workweek.
