The coveted FIFA World Cup 2022 trophy arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday, and it was received by female footballer Hajra Khan, according to Media.
Christian Karembeu, a former World Cup winner from France, stepped out carrying the trophy, which weighed 6.1kg, from a chartered plane that flew from Uzbekistan to Lahore. Hajra Khan, captain of Pakistan’s women’s football team, received the auspicious trophy at the airport in Lahore.
Discussing to local news media Karembu said, “Every kid in the world wants to see [the trophy] and, of course, we need to respect that dream and we know that everything is magical when we have it (9 trophies) this close to us.”
The trophy will be displayed at two separate events in Lahore: one for stakeholders and partners and another for the general public, which will be a concert this evening.
The trophy has been to over 50 countries and is set to visit Saudi Arabia next.
The 2022 Qatar World Cup begin on November 21 and it will ultimately result with the final on December 18.
The trophy arrived in Pakistan in 2018, before to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
