The National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad confirmed out the possibility of monkeypox cases in Pakistan on Tuesday.

Prior, the news had been circulating on social networking sites about the detection of two monkeypox cases in Lahore.

In a statement, an NIH official stated the news about monkeypox cases in Pakistan circulating on social media sites is “fake.”

According to the statement, no cases of monkeypox have been reported in Pakistan so far, and the issue is being closely monitored by health experts.

Earlier, the National Institute of Health (NIH) sounded the alarm regarding the spread of disease in Pakistan.

The health department issued a high warning to provinces and other institutions, urging them to take immediate action to avoid the spread of infectious illness throughout the country.
