WhatsApp is planning to introduce a feature that can filter chats to standard accounts after its successful implementation of the same feature in business accounts, as reported by WABetainfo.
Last year with the addition of some simple filters to quickly find certain chats, WhatsApp released advanced search filters for business accounts on WhatsApp beta for Android, iOS, and Desktop.
However, this feature allowed businesses to filter communications on standard WhatsApp accounts. WhatsApp’s news tracker also notes that this feature will be incorporated into default accounts in the next update.
The platform said that “As you can see in this screenshot, the filter button is visible to business accounts when tapping the search bar on the desktop which makes it easier to search for unread chats, contacts, non-contacts, and groups,”.
WhatsApp stated that the standard feature will be enabled in the app itself at some point in the future, but this feature will also have an even further difference: The filter button will always be viewable even if you are not searching for chats and messages.
WABetainfo reported that this feature was under development for standard WhatsApp accounts and would be available in a future update.
