In Pakistan MG has received the most attention and interest for a variety of reasons. One of which is through their launching locally assembled MG vehicles in Pakistan.
MG has confirmed that it will be beginning production soon. The company pledged to start local assembly by the second half of 2022.
MG has already invested $100 million dollars in the initiative which makes it a committed $86 million factory. They are now aggressively investing the remaining $ 14 million to see it through.
An official announced that the company is working closely with the Engineering Development Board (EDB) and is incorporating their recommendations to begin the assembly of the washing machine as soon as possible.
He Said that: Each automaker needs four basic components to assemble cars in Pakistan — a welding section, a paint shop, an assembly line, and a testing section for thorough quality check. Our facility is 90 percent complete. The remainder is the home-stretch, which is always the most crucial and resource intensive.
MG has already assembled and tested several units of the machines in their local assembly facility, the official said. Once they go on sale people will not be able to tell a difference in terms of quality between versions that were made locally and versions built by assembling them.
Pakistan has had a new increase in tax rates, freight costs and local currency devaluation from the recent political change. The automaker announced the price hike for its most popular SUV – MG HS.
