The federal government removed Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat from post and directed him to report to the Establishment Division in Islamabad till further order.

Irfan Nawaz is New DC Islamabad

Irfan Nawaz is an officer in the Pakistan Administrative Service and has been appointed as District Commissioner Officer, Islamabad with immediate effect. He had been serving as District Commissioner Officer Quetta until his transfer to Islamabad.

According to the official notification issued by the Establishment Division “Mr Hamza Shafqaat, a BS-19 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service, presently posted as Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory under interior division, is transferred and directed to report to Establishment Division, with immediate effect and until further orders,”

Hamza Shafqaat will be remembered as one of the most proactive DCs. He led many initiatives while he was in charge. These included launching smartphone applications like Durust Daam and City Islamabad to operating non-formal evening schools for underprivileged children, which is a rare thing to see happening in this city.
