Zong 4G has started a nationwide public awareness campaign to protect Pakistani telecom consumers against thefts and scams, which are getting increasingly common these days.
Millions of Pakistanis are being informed about the growing risk of various types of thefts and frauds, such as fake rewards from game shows, fake calls from pretending bank agents, SMS with spam Web pages etc. thanks towards the digital campaign.
The aim of these scams is to get confidential information such as CNIC numbers, credit/debit card data, bank account details, and etc.
The below are some of the frauds that Zong informs Pakistani telecom customers about:
Users receive a fake call or message stating that they have won a large reward on one of the country’s most popular game shows. They are then tricked into providing confidential material such as CNIC numbers or card/account information.
Telecom customers receive a fake call from a fake bank/insurance agent demanding personal information such as their CNIC number, card number, or account number.
Users may also receive a Text message from an unknown number with an appealing message inviting them to click on a spam link where their personal information is stolen.
“We’re a customer-centric organization, therefore everything we do here is for the benefit and welfare of our customers,” Zong’s official spokeswoman said.
“Staying protected in today’s progressively digital world is not easy and the users who are not careful fall prey to such fraudsters. But we are here to start educating the Pakistani telecom customers on how to get the better of the digital world while staying kept safe,” the statement told.
Zong 4G, as a customer-centric company, has introduced a subscriber-level SIM blocking and CNIC blacklisting service to prevent fraudulent users. Customers to remain at the centre of everything Zong does, and the awareness campaign shows this dedication.
