Kim Kardashian received the surprise of a lifetime after finding out that her family was a massive inspiration for one of the Bridgerton plotlines, so do we sense a ‘Kardash-erton’ crossover coming soon?! Let’s break it down.
January 25th, 2021 marked the first time Kim Kardashian expressed interest in the hit Netflix drama series Bridgerton via Twitter, which might’ve been the best decision she made all year.
Like all of us who’ve stepped into the inner workings of Lady Whistledown, Kim suddenly caught onto the obsession and even turned her sisters on to the show. Needless to say, never in her wildest dreams would Kim have imagined her very own family as the inspiration behind one of the families in the show.
After learning about her Bridgerton obsession, actress Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, broke the news to Kim that her family had a lot to do with the Featherington family dynamic.
On Tuesday, she tweeted to Kim, “As the world’s number one @bridgerton stan, does @KimKardashian know that the Kardashians were a massive inspiration for the Featheringtons and we talked about them all the time during our fittings? Because I feel like she should know this.” Naturally, all chill was lost in a matter of seconds, and Kim responded to Nicola, utterly shocked at what she had just read.
She wrote back, “WHAT?!?! I am freaking out!!!!!! This tweet was sent to me on my @bridgerton group chat! Can I please come to a fitting?!?! It would make my whole life!!!!!! I love you Lady W!!!” Even more, Nicola also tweeted back to Kim, revealing that the designer of her corset was also Kim’s corset designer from her 2019 Met Gala look.
So basically, we now know where Kim’s Bridgerton obsession stemmed from, considering she’s been an honorary Featherington all along! Nicola appeared to agree with that sentiment, dubbing Kim the ‘Duchess Kardashian of Calabasas’ (this is seriously too much!), adding, according to Lady Whistledown, herself, “the season’s true incomparable.”
This Twitter exchange is seriously giving me LIFE, but this wasn’t the first time Nicola brought up the family comparisons. In December, she gave a full rundown of the Featherington/Kardashian connection to Glamour magazine, saying, “Penelope is old-school Khloé.
Remember Khloé used to say, ‘I’m the redheaded stepchild, and I have to do everything for everyone.’ I think that’s Penelope. But then, you know, Khloé came back and is flying high.” She went on to explain that “Prudence and Philipa are terrible to her. And then Lady Portia Featherington is a true Kris Jenner—the ultimate ‘momager.’ She’s very ambitious for her girls.”
Just going to throw this out there: due to the inner workings of Kris Jenner, does anyone else think that the ending of Keeping Up With The Kardashians was perfectly timed for the famous family to transport their tea to the Regency Era?
