Selena Gomez hosted the star-studded Vax Live benefit concert on Sunday and couldn’t help but fangirl over Jennifer Lopez and the other talent in attendance…. but I mean, can you blame the girl?! Celebs; they’re just like us, and sometimes they also can’t help but freak out knowing they’re in the presence of some of Hollywood’s biggest names.
That said, one of many reasons why we love Selena Gomez is because of her down-to-earth relatability, which she expressed on Sunday while hosting Global Citizen’s Vax Live: A Concert To Reunite The World.
The event was held at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It featured a lengthy list of performers and guest appearances, including Jennifer Lopez, H.E.R., Foo Fighters, J Balvin, Prince Harry, Ben Affleck, Olivia Munn, and even President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.
Selena debuted two different outfits for the evening. She later caught up with Entertainment Tonight, where she admitted to “geeking out” over the guest list, saying that she was “equally geeked out when I found out who was going to be here and I was happy that those people decided to join us and spread the word.” She posed for multiple photos with JLo throughout the night, and I’ve gotta give Sel major props for appearing cool, calm, and collected after admitting to fangirling over her.
Selena even went on to admit that she was “a little nervous” to host the entire event but explained that she’d been eagerly using her platform to “confront issues with businesses, philanthropists, people who may have not been given the proper information.”
The goal of this benefit concert was, as Sel put it, “to show what the whole world could be like and to give facts on what this vaccination is, and encouraging people to look into it and not get their information from a false source,” adding that she was “so excited to give people the chance to see the other side.”
Many celebrities, politicians, and world leaders came together to hold the event to increase donations and spread the word on the importance of the vaccine to attempt to return back to normal.
The event is set to air next Saturday, and Selena dished on her hopes of viewers feeling inspired to get vaccinated and do their part to bring back a sense of normalcy following the pandemic. She said, “I hope they feel a sense of comfortability, safeness and are hopefully more educated on what’s going on. And my dream would be for everyone to get vaccinated.”
So mark your calendars for a night of music, celebration and health education, as the Global Citizens Vax Live Concert event will air on Saturday, May 8th at 8 p.m. eastern time on select channels and streaming on YouTube.
