WhatsApp is ready to provide users with a password-protected backup feature

WhatsApp, a well-known messaging platform currently owned by Facebook, is developing a new feature called “end-to-end encrypted backup”. An updated version of the instant messaging application has been submitted through the Google Play Beta testing program, and the new version may appear. 2.21.10.2. WhatsApp introduced a recently redesigned chat bar and considered playback speed in the previous update of the WhatsApp Beta beta for Android devices.

Developers are now using encryption services discovered by WABetaInfo to implement end-to-end backup endpoints. WABI is a new end-to-end encrypted backup service that makes backups hosted on Google Drive more secure. If users want to restore their WhatsApp, they will be required to enter a secure password before decryption. The backup is always encrypted, no one can see the content contained in it, so unauthorized access can be prevented.

The functional status is still under construction, but WABetaInfo has displayed some preview images to provide an overview. If the user wants to enable the end-to-end encrypted backup service, he must add a password of at least 8 characters to the configuration. After enabling this encryption function, the user can ask WhatsApp to change the password or disable the encryption service. This password is confidential and will not be passed to WhatsApp or the parent company Facebook.

After this function is available, if the password is lost, the user will no longer be able to restore the backup. However, WhatsApp can use the recovery password option, which allows users to restore their backup even if the password is lost. Please test and consider possible features before everyone can use them. Therefore, it is best to wait for the next 2.21.10.2 WhatsApp version and continue to pay attention to release some new announcements and features of the same platform.
