Country music sensation Luke Bryan is setting the record straight after getting a frantic message from his mother, who read that fellow country artist Maren Morris gave birth to his child. Let’s break it all down…
Okay, so first things first: NO, Maren Morris and Luke Bryan did NOT have some secret love child, and YES, the tabloids are very much to blame for this major mixup.
So basically, this all started thanks to Luke’s mother, who was skimming over The Sun’s latest gossip column, only to find her son’s name slapped across a headline that claimed he and Maren had welcomed their first child together.
The article was published last month and inaccurately stated that Maren “gave birth to her first child with husband Luke Bryan in March 2020,” when many country music fans know that she and her ACTUAL husband Ryan Hurd welcomed their son Hayes last year.
Luke shared more about his mother’s mixup during a recent appearance on The Ellen Show, recalling, “So, I’m having coffee, and my mother calls me and she goes, ‘I’m sitting here reading some gossip thing. It says you fathered Maren Morris’ child.’ I go, ‘Oh my gosh. I do not need this today.’”
He was quick to assume that the mixup had to do with Maren’s husband having written Luke’s latest single, “Waves,” and told Ellen he even called up Ryan to joke about the headline in good fun. “I shared it from my mother straight to Ryan, and I said, ‘Buddy, I think we need to talk…”
And just in case there were any lingering thoughts, Luke quickly set the record straight and looked directly into the camera to give viewers the cold hard truth. “I am NOT the father! We can call Maury Povich in, or however y’all wanna go about it.”
The news ended up getting back to Maren, who also poked fun at the ridiculous headline on Twitter, writing, “Thanks for clearing this one up @LukeBryanOnline @RyanHurd!”
Maren also posted a screenshot of the article to her Instagram stories back in April, teasing, “I guess the cat’s outta the bag @lukebryan,” with a laughing emoji. Her husband Ryan also joined in on the fun, writing, “DAMN YOU @LUKEBRYAN I DEMAND A PATERNITY TEST.”
Thankfully, the rumor was quickly put to rest, and we are happy to report NO secret baby scandals amongst the country music crew this time around.
