Apple hired a former Facebook manager to build its own advertising system

Despite the technology giant Apple, which claims that its products and services have no advertisements, there is still room for these advertisements in the App Store and other macOS and iOS apps. With the continued growth of the service categories on the platform, Apple seems to be taking new major steps by investing in advertising, because Antonio García Martinez, who previously worked at social media giant Facebook, has been hired to join your Advertising team. According to “Business Insider” reports, Martinez was appointed by Apple in April and will work in Cupertino, Silicon Valley.

This message is based on the information collected in Martinez’s LinkedIn profile. Martinez worked at Facebook from 2011 to 2013 as the product manager of the social media advertising platform. The Internet is also known as the author and entrepreneur of the famous book “Chaotic Monkey”. According to reports, the former entrepreneur is now working with Apple to jointly develop its App Store and Apple’s news advertising department. When asked about these reports, Martinez and the company chose not to respond to anything related to recruitment. Previously, before 2016, Apple had its own advertising platform called iAd.

The platform enables advertisers to place interactive ads for iOS apps.  Certain advertising spaces can be used to highlight applications in the App Store, as well as certain advertisements displayed in Apple News. In the second quarter of 2021, Apple received $16.9 billion in revenue from its services (including App Store and advertising). Recently, Apple has encouraged its developers to use advertisements to promote its iOS applications. This shows that the company is interested in further exploring this category.

When the tech giant was preparing to launch its new app tracking transparency feature, it took these new steps, which allows users to turn off third-party app tracking. This feature may affect many platforms, including Facebook, thereby generating advertising revenue. A recent report pointed out that more than 10,000 applications have chosen to use the ATT function. Apple is unlikely to become a major hub in the online advertising market. However, the company hopes that the ads displayed on its platform comply with the privacy policy it provides.
