With Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album Sour dropping tomorrow, fans just discovered that Taylor Swift and her longtime collaborator Jack Antanoff are credited writers on one of the tracks. Could this be the collab we’ve been waiting for?! Let’s get into it.

Ever since Olivia Rodrigo broke onto the scene, she’s made it no secret that she’s a diehard Swiftie. I mean, seriously, since Olivia was a little girl, she’s been a stan. I’ll never get over how cute that photo is. And when Olivia’s song Driver’s License nearly broke the internet, Olivia totally freaked out when Taylor fangirled over the song. Completely understandable!

But as time went on, it seemed like Taylor was becoming somewhat of a mentor to Olivia and even sent her incredibly thoughtful gifts. “I got a package from her with this like handwritten note. And she gave me this ring because she said she wore one just like it when she wrote Red and she wanted me to have one like it.” The two finally met last week at the BRIT Awards, and our hearts basically exploded!  And ever since their friendship blossomed, fans have been begging for Taylor and Olivia to collab.

So you can imagine fans’ excitement when they noticed that Taylor Swift and her longtime collaborator Jack Antanoff were credited as songwriters on one of the tracks of Olivia’s new album. The track “1 step forward, 3 steps back” says Written By: Jack Antanoff, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift. People on Twitter lost it over this news, and these three immediately started trending.

Another fan chimed in, writing, “jack, taylor, and olivia collab omg i’m so excited!!!!!!!!!!!” And there were thousands of more tweets like those. But others were quick to point out that Olivia supposedly sampled Taylor Swift’s Reputation track “New Year’s Day” on “1 step forward, 3 steps back.”

“New Year’s Day” was, in fact, written by Taylor Swift and Jack Antanoff, so that’s definitely a possibility, but it’s also possible that Jack and Taylor worked with Olivia on the entire song. We can’t wait to hear it, along with all the other Sour songs, as soon as the album drops.

Until then, we’ll be over here dreaming up what “1 step forward, 3 steps back” is going to sound like! If you want more on Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift’s friendship, stick around for more thrilling news. Also, let us know down in the comments below if you think of this possible collaboration and if you’re as excited as we are for Sour to drop!
