I’m about to blow your mind… Three of today’s biggest stars were almost in a band together. Imagine a world where Zendaya, H.E.R., and Kehlani were in a group… well, we almost lived in it! We have to get into this! We all know that Zendaya, H.E.R., and Kehlani are all thriving in their individual careers right now.
Z recently won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, H.E.R. won both Grammys and an Oscar this year alone, and Kehlani is killing it in their life as both a musician and a mom.
But in a recent interview on The Carlos Watson Show, H.E.R. shared a story about what could have been. H.E.R. revealed that when she and Kehlani were kids, they performed in a band together in northern California with Dylan Wiggins, who is Dwayne Wiggins’ son from Tony! Toni! Toné!
And at one point, Zendaya was actually supposed to join their band too. “We used to perform together when we were really young and Kehlani was actually in our band. And yeah we all used to sing together. And Zendaya was gonna be in it at one point but yeah they all grew up together.”
And as this news has been circulating, a Kehlani fan account on Twitter shared this throwback pic of them and H.E.R. posing together back in the day. How cute!!
And while the band of Zendaya, H.E.R., and Kehlani never actually ended up happening, BuzzFeed did a deep dive and found that they actually almost crossed paths more than once on their rise to superstardom. According to the outlet, Kehlani appeared as part of the band Poplyfe that appeared on America’s Got Talent. Apparently, H.E.R. was a part of the band at one point but didn’t appear on the A.G.T. run.
Then, after Kehlani left, Zendaya also performed with Poplyfe at the White House. I mean, we just can’t stop thinking about what could’ve been! But it’s ok because all Zendaya, H.E.R., and Kehlani have all gone on to have extremely successful careers. And they continue to support each other.
When Zendaya presented the award for Best Original Song at this year’s Oscars, the two locked eyes and jumped for joy when H.E.R. won. You have to notice this moment. “And the Oscar goes to, H.E.R., Dernst Emile, and Tiara Thomas, for Fight for You from Judas and the Black Messiah.” I’m sorry, we’ve just gotta see that cute jumping O.M.G. moment again.
So while they may not have formed a band together as kids, we love that their friendships live on as they continue to support each other. Especially when it’s between such talented people!
We’ll keep you updated if H.E.R., Zendaya, or Kehlani share any more details on the band that almost happened.
