Seagate launches the world's fastest hard drive

Although solid-state drives (SSD) are becoming more and more common in computers due to their superior speed, hard disk drives (HDD) are still widely used because they can store large amounts of data at a low cost. However, Seagate’s latest hard drives are also geared towards speed. Mach.2 Exos 2X14 was introduced as the first two-drive hard drive, which is also the fastest hard drive in the world.

Traditional hard drives have one hard drive with read/write heads, while Exos 2X14 has two, which doubles the read/write speed of hard drives. Seagate has worked closely with Microsoft for many years to develop the technology, and their efforts have finally paid off. The total capacity of the hard drive is 14 TB, and the data transfer rate is stable. With a speed of 524 MB/s, it is currently the fastest hard drive in the world.

In fact, these are two 7TB hard drives combined in a helium box. Its spindle speed is 7200 rpm and the cache is 256 MB. When testing on servers in data centers, Exos 2X14 can compete with some cheap SATA/SAS SSDs in read/write speeds at a lower cost. However, the new hard drive consumes more power than other hard drives-13.5 watts under heavy load. The album is currently only open to some customers and will not be released on the open market soon. Seagate multi-drive technology may be available on other hard drives.
