Selena Gomez just proved that she’s been the biggest Britney Spears fan since FOREVER, and did she just hint at new music in her latest IG post…? — Let’s get into it
Okay, let’s be honest, back when we were little, we probably ALL at one point grabbed the TV remote or hairbrush and mouthed the lyrics to our favorite songs…
And Selena Gomez was no exception to this trend as she shared the sweetest throwback video to Instagram singing her little heart out to Britney Spears’ 2000 hit “Don’t Go Knocking On My Door.” “Don’t go knockin’ on my door. Gotta stay away for sure!”
In the adorable 24-second clip shared on Tuesday, we see a very young Selena — from around the time she was making regular appearances on Barney & Friends — giving off some major diva vibes as she channels her inner Britney. Baby Sel was clearly years ahead of her time, coming up with the first TikTok vid long before TikTok was even thought of!
Not only did Selena sing along to the words, but she also exudes some serious attitude in front of those trippy ‘90s visuals in the background. I mean the way she whips off her stylish blue sunglasses at the end for dramatic effect — it was clear she was destined to become a star!
Even Selena’s mom, Mandy Teefey, was fully aware of her daughter’s talent from an early age as she left her a comment on the post that read, “No doubt you were going to be successful!!! XO”
Selena captioned her post, “The hustle was real,” and her best friends joined in on the fun in the comments with Raquelle Stevens and Theresa Marie Mungus, leaving behind tears of joy emojis.
Sel’s other best friend, Connar Franklin, spoke for many of us with her comment that read: “am I dying… why are you the exact same?” And not to get our hopes up, but the last time Selena posted a series of childhood photos was back in October of 2019 when she dropped her massive hit song ‘Lose You To Love Me’ right after.
In fact, she even captioned those throwback pictures with lyrics to the song! So could this mean that ‘the hustle was real’ is part of a potential new song?
We did see her learning the lyrics to Saweetie and Doja Cat’s ‘Best Friend’ just a few weeks ago, so it’s not that far a stretch…
Or maybe she has a big surprise in store for us this Saturday during her performance at the opening ceremony of the Champions League Final in Portugal, where she’ll be sharing the stage with Marshmello and Khalid.
Let’s not forget that Selena collaborated with Marshmello back in 2017 on ‘Wolves,’ and that same year, Khalid teamed up with the DJ to release ‘Silence’… So who knows, maybe they’ll surprise us with a brand new track featuring all three artists. We’re just gonna have to wait and see…
