Statistics Show Ransomware Attacks Are On The Rise

The impact of attacks using various forms of ransomware is widespread, but it must be noted that the actual impact in the real world is not often discussed. The report shows that nearly 300 organizations have become victims of ransomware attacks this year alone, which means that ransomware organizations have received a total of $45 million in revenue from the attacks they chose to participate in.

Investigations have been conducted on new gangs such as Darkside and Avaddon, but old gangs such as CLOP, Ryuk/Conti, DoppelPaymer, and Sodin/REvil have also received widespread attention and matters that require attention. Each gang specializes in certain regions and certain industries. For example, Sodin/REvil seems to be more focused on medical companies, etc., while they and Ryuk/Conti also seem to be more inclined to notebook computer manufacturers, the latter of which is mainly aimed at enterprises.

One thing that many people don’t realize is that many of these attacks are unreported, simply because the companies affected by the attacks choose not to talk about them because they usually only pay the ransom provided by the organization. These gangs did not do that. I really do not know. The past may change the way law enforcement agencies choose to fight these groups, especially as investigations proceed.
