IOS Flaw allows app developers to force iPhone users to give them a five-star rating

The verification system implemented in the App Store can help users understand which applications will ultimately provide them with good services. However, it must be noted that application developers can use several different methods to invade the system.

Although many of these forms of rating manipulation are the result of confidential tactics adopted by attackers, a security vulnerability has recently been discovered that may allow application developers to trick users into rating it with five stars.

The vulnerability was discovered by the researcher Costa Eleftheria, who earned a reputation for exposing scams that can plague iOS users. Use your app until you get five stars in the App Store. Basically, application developers can choose to display a “Don’t Now” button when the application prompts the user to rate it. This is an extremely manipulative way to obtain extremely high scores, but it does not truly reflect the true quality of the applications involved.

Apple should consider taking action against developers who have tried this strategy and ideally fix the errors that initially allowed these developers to use this strategy. Providing users with a great experience is crucial, and a key component of this type is to ensure that users don’t have to deal with inferior apps that might try to trick users.
