Research to determine global consumption of third-party voice calling applications

Social media platforms and other third-party applications have played an important role in bringing people from other regions together. It used to be expensive to contact people living abroad because the cost of each call was very high. But after apps such as Google Hangouts and WhatsApp became available, these international calls became very common.

According to recent observations of 17 emerging global markets including Spain, France, India, United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia, the application is third-party. For example, Facebook’s WhatsApp and Google’s Google Hangouts. Users prefer to make calls because third-party providers’ calls are cheaper than cell phone providers.

However, the situation is not the same for everyone. Contrary to Italy, Indonesia and India, due to the low tariffs of cellular network data transmission, the daily usage fees of these applications are often used, while in the United States, the UAE, and Mexico, there are high daily tariffs. And the consumption rate of these two applications is also very high. Among the 17 international markets surveyed, 23% of global market consumers generally prefer to use Google Hangouts and WhatsApp for calls, while the other half continue to agree to use these two applications, but now generally prefer 46% of users in the United States Don’t use WhatsApp or Google Hangouts as the calling medium, because American users are more willing to insist on using mobile data tariffs because it is cheaper for them.

Unlike the US, 40% of UK users have used these third-party applications, but they don’t use them often. With the introduction of 5G services, compared with other third-party applications such as Zoom, the number of calls is expected to decrease even more. And Microsoft Teams also demonstrated their potential, because, during the Covid-19 pandemic, when everything on the Internet changed and led to the home office, these two applications became the central axis for managing online meetings, including some big one’s company.

This is because, in addition to being cheaper, these phones have many other support features. Therefore, it can be assumed that in the near future, telecommunication services will only provide mobile data packets for areas with the good mobile radio network coverage.
