Online pricing NOW is helping consumers decide whether to shop online or in physical stores

Shoppers around the world are increasingly browsing the Internet, searching for the prices of the goods they are interested in, and then deciding whether to shop online or go to the store. A YouGov national study found that two-thirds (66%) of consumers browse online prices before deciding how to shop. How shoppers around the world rate the prices of household items.

In Asian countries, especially China, India, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates, about four-fifths of consumers said they would check house prices online in advance. Even 50% of consumers in Denmark, France, and Germany do not have the same thought process. Regarding the differences in the thinking processes of different age groups, the study mentions that 68% of Americans aged 45-54 prefer to search online for home improvement product prices before deciding which half to buy.

Among Americans between the ages of 18 and 24, 50% agree that they also go online to estimate prices first. In the 25-34, 35-44, and 45-54 age groups, three-quarters of consumers admit that they prefer to check prices online in advance. In Australia, younger consumers are more interested in checking prices online than older consumers.

Although only 66% of shoppers in the 45 to 54 age group admit that they have determined the shopping environment after checking online prices, these figures belong to consumers aged 18 to 24 (70%), 25-34 (70%), and 35-44 (75%). The above results clearly show that consumers are very interested in pricing details even if they choose to buy in person.

Therefore, distributors must ensure that the prices of their products on the Internet are constantly updated. This also applies to shop owners who do not accept online payments. In this study, YouGov interviewed adults (over 18 years of age) in 17 countries. By 2019, 508 respondents will visit each market.
