Research shows that the vast majority of Americans do not like censorship

Although 17% said that censorship was never something they or anyone should go through, 22% said that incitement to violence may justify some form of censorship; similar percentages expressed the same view of false or misleading information, 20% of people said that they think that pornographic content or discriminatory communication requires a certain degree of censorship.

Basically, this means that many Americans think they sometimes need to self-censor, but their main problem usually lies with other people. Saying that they should review their language, the interesting thing about this study and survey is that they did not restrict the respondents to one age group, on the contrary, the respondents of these surveys belonged to multiple age groups.

The largest group is young people aged 18 to 24, accounting for 30% of the total number of respondents participating in this survey. Respondents aged 2539 and 4054 accounted for 14% and 13%, respectively, and older respondents increased slightly—accounting for 23% of the total number of people 65 and over. These responses may be another example of the US response.

However, rampant censorship is definitely a threat to freedom of speech, but at the same time, the rise of social media makes it extremely easy to manipulate people through the abuse of freedom of speech. Statements and subsequent actions, such as incitement to violence and attempts to spread false information.
