Through personalized advertising, users can see advertisements that match their interests, so advertisers can also fully understand users’ likes and dislikes. Google Play creates a unique advertising ID for each desired user.

This advertising identifier provides users with better control and provides a simple and normal system for developers to monetize their applications and help avoid deception and fraud. To personalize ads in your profile settings, the company will not use your ID for personalized ads, but still, save this ID for other entities.

When users access their account settings, please currently disable interest-based advertising. Your ID will still be displayed in the app. However, in a future update, if the user disables the function of personalized advertising, Google Play will confiscate the user’s advertising identity.

After making these changes, the app will no longer see the ad user ID. In addition, the company will notify the application to delete user identities. Therefore, if the application stores any data, it needs to be deleted. It will also build user confidence that their personal information will be protected even if it is modified.

The company said it will provide more information and alternative answers to help deal with key use cases such as fraud analysis and deterrence. There is no detailed information about the company’s upcoming alternative solutions. The ability to remove the advertising user ID, this option will be released in the Android 12 update.

The company also posted some new details on its support page. If the user ID is revoked, it must be entered into the reporting system. If users use advertising IDs for important use cases such as fraud deterrence analysis, they should continue to identify some applications. The company believes this is a privacy-friendly feature and is not used for interest-based advertising.
