Pakistani captain Babar Azam has surpassed former Indian captain Virat Kohli as the Fastest 1000 Runs in ODI as Captain.
Babar, who led Pakistan from the start of the three-match series against the West Indies here on Wednesday, reached 1000 runs after scoring a dominant century. It took only 13 innings for the world’s top ODI batter to accomplish this feat.
Previously, in his 17th innings as captain, Kohli scored 1000 runs, followed by AB De Villiers (20 matches) and Kane Williamson (22 matches).
Babar is also the only batter to have scored three consecutive ODI centuries multiple times. He previously accomplished this feat against the West Indies in 2016, however this time he did it with a century against the West Indies, followed by two hundreds in the second and third home ODIs in April of this year.
It should be noted that Babar is currently ranked first in the ICC batters rankings for T20Is and ODIs.
