On Saturday, Pakistan held arch-rival India to a 2-2 draw in the first edition of the FIH Hockey 5s in Lausanne, Switzerland.
According to details provided by Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), India scored the first goal within first minute of the match by Mohammed Raheel. The lead didn’t last very long, as Pakistan equalised six minutes later, thanks to a deflection by Liaqat Arshad. Both teams had chances, but the game remained level until halftime.
Pakistan started on front foot in the second half however the Indian defensive line stood firm and foiled multiple attacks. Against the run of game India once again took a lead, scoring by Gursahibjit Singh. With only seconds remaining, Abdul Rehman deflected a cross from the right flank to tie the game.
Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan defeated Poland 4-2 in their first match. Murtaza Muhammad scored Pakistan’s first goal in the third minute. The lead lasted only two minutes before Poland responded through Rutkowski Wojciech.
Pakistan took the match away from Poland thanks to Abuzar’s hat trick in the sixth, 12th, and 14th minutes. Pawlak scored a late consolation goal for Poland.

Pakistan has two matches scheduled for Sunday. In the first match, they will face Switzerland, and in the second match, they will face Malaysia. The final will also take place on Sunday, following the conclusion of the round-robin stage.
